HEAVEN......FOR REAL

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have seen a scripture that makes me think.....and of course, that's what we need to be doing, thinking on the Word so that our minds can be renewed on an ongoing basis.

We know that once we have made Jesus Lord of our lives, born again by the Spirit of God, that the bible assures us that we have eternal life in Christ. But once that is all signed and sealed, do you ever wonder what it's really going to be like......I do!

In 1Peter 2 we find that we can be assured of something fabulous -
an ABUNDANT entrance into the kingdom of God!
Not just making it by the skin of our teeth!
However, the small print gives the conditions (in my own words) -

There are several vitally important things we need to be diligently
ADDING to our faith, like:

VIRTUE - moral goodness. Gives a new twist to 'bye now, be good'
KNOWLEDGE- remember the verse that exhorts us to study to show
yourself approved, get into the word, get to know what you believe.
SELFCONTROL - don't just do it....
PERSEVERANCE - never, never, never give up
GODLINESS - we are called to this, and empowered by the Holy Spirit for it.
BROTHERLY KINDNESS - he ain't heavy, he's my brother type of thing, family
LOVE - if you haven't got it, ask the Lord to give it to you and He will.
Gotta love people until you like them as well.

The bible says it we need to do it if we really want that abundant entrance....

FEELING GOD'S PLEASURE

Scotsman Eric Liddell was a champion marathon athlete who did remarkable things at the 1924 Olympics in Paris.  He featured in an all time favorite movie with a Christian theme - the 1981 film entitled 'Chariots of Fire'.

There is a famous line in the movie where Eric's sister is arguing with him about his going to Paris instead of going instantly to the mission field in China. Eric's response was:
"God has made me to be a missionary, aye, but he has made me fast,
and when I run, I FEEL GOD'S PLEASURE."

If you are functioning in your God-given gifting, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about!  If you aren't, there must be a reason......so pick one now:

You haven't discovered it yet (please hurry up, it's needed)
You don't think it's good enough (it is - just work harder at it to improve)
You are fast asleep (please wake up)
You are lazy (please move it)
You can't be bothered (......get a (Christian) life!)

I think The Lord takes immense pleasure when we bring glory to His name by being the best we can be.  He has given us everything possible to achieve the potential He placed within our unborn human seed - the Holy Spirit is His empowering agent and He is the wind beneath our wings.
